Job Definition and Evaluation

Most sizeable companies will, as part of their Quality and/or Performance Management Systems, have descriptions for all the jobs that are being undertaken within the organisation. The production and use of these in the context of the management of performance will be covered in greater detail in Section A, 2.1. If the company does have such a system then, for the purpose of recruitment, all a Manager will need to do is to use an existing description to derive a Job Definition. If Job Descriptions do not exist or if the vacancy is for an entirely new job, then one will have to be produced as a first step in the recruitment process.
