It is reasonably easy to miss isodense subdural collections (subacute) check for

■ sulci reach the brain surface,

■ ipsilateral ventricular compression,

■ use a wide window width 400 and window level 40.

A membrane can form around chronic subdural collections (sometimes visible). Vessel fragility may cause rebleeding (see Fig. 5.12). In this situation, blood of different densities is frequently present (Fig. 5.13).
