The results obtained on these three samples from TGA and DSC are shown in Figures 15.25-15.36. They show the mass left and heat flow into or out from the sample as a function of temperature. The TGA results on cellulose show the presence of combined moisture in the sample under both inert and oxidative

conditions. The results under inert conditions (see TGA curves in Fig. 15.25) suggest that the decomposition occurs in a single-stage reaction while the results from oxidative condition (see TGA curves in Fig. 15.27) suggest that the decomposition occurs in multistages.
