1. Quetiapine is an atypical neuroleptic with a very low incidence of EPS.
2. Initial dose is 25 mg bid, which is titrated every 1 or 2 days to a total daily dose of 300-400 mg (given bid or tid).
3. Side effects include orthostatic hypotension, somnolence, and weight gain. Dyspepsia, abdominal pain, and dry mouth may also occur.
5. Dosage should be reduced in the elderly. Sustained prolactin elevation is not observed.
