Where Can One Get Treatment

Treatment for PTSD can be found broadly within the mental health service system that exists within one's community. Taking the limitations and restrictions on services that exist within any one setting, various degrees of treatment and types of treatment can be found in many different settings. The following is a list of places where one can seek treatment for PTSD:

Veteran's Administration hospitals (for veterans, of course)

Community mental health clinics

County mental health service centers

College and university counseling centers and psychological service clinics

Private practice mental health clinics and offices of psychologists, psychiatrists, or clinical social workers

Departments of psychiatry at medical centers

The American Red Cross (for emergency services, psychological first aid, and crisis services)

Behavioral health or psychiatric hospitals with either outpatient or inpatient programs
