Type of psychology: Personality
Fields of study: Behavioral and cognitive models; models of abnormality; personality theory
Miller and Dollard developed a personality theory that was based on Clark Hull's stimulus-response learning theory. They used this theory and a number of psychoanalytic concepts to explain how neurosis developed. They also showed how psychotherapy could be conceptualized as a learning process by using an S-R model of higher mental processes.
